At Pinnacle Masonry our goal is to build structures – and relationships – that stand the test of time.

History

We started with a clear vision of how we wanted to do business.

Danks Burton and a core group of employees and investors formed the nucleus of Pinnacle Masonry in 1992, and immediately set out to offer quality work, at a fair price and in a trustworthy manner. They’ve built an impressive portfolio of projects ranging from monument signs, residences, retail centers, commercial buildings, community centers and hospitals, to name just a few.

Today, more than two decades later, Danks is the sole owner of a masonry company that is well respected by general contractors, builders, engineers, architects and suppliers throughout the Triangle. And he’s still just as committed to starting every job out on the right foot, and seeing every project through to a successful conclusion, no matter how large or small.

Danks Burton

Owner / President

Danks manages all operations of the company. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1985 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is a Past President of the NC Masonry Contractors Assoc., Co-Chair of the Certification Committee for the Mason Contractors Assoc. of America, and a member of the Board of Directors for Miracle League of the Triangle.

Jake Burton

Project Manager

Jake is the son of Danks and Joanne Burton and joined Pinnacle Masonry in April 2018. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2016 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Jake handles estimates and oversees projects. Before that he worked as a land development engineer with Withers Ravenel.

Joanne Burton

Office Manager

Joanne is responsible for payroll and accounting, and assists project managers with submittals and contracts. She also manages Pinnacle’s health care and 401K plans. She’s a graduate of Mary Baldwin College in Staton, VA. While technically she has only been an employee since 2000, she has been involved with operations since day one. She is married to Danks, they have three children.

Field Employees

Our four masonry crews are led by Dennis Little, Lynn Mitchell, Berk Saunders and Jaime Apodaca. They have a combined 70 years on staff with Pinnacle – and many more years’ experience in masonry overall. We have a core group of more than 30 employees. Nine have been with Pinnacle 20+ years, 7 more than 15 years, 6 over a decade, and 12 longer than 5 years.

Safety

First, last and always.

Pinnacle is committed to provide a safe environment and safe workplace for all employees. We work to achieve an absolute minimum of injuries and property damage, and limit as much as possible illness and unnecessary hazards.

What does that mean in the real world? We ensure that key employees are certified as scaffold erectors, that all forklift operators are trained and licensed, and that managers and superintendents have completed the 10-hour OSHA safety course. We also conduct weekly safety talks for all employees and regularly conduct jobsite inspections.

Certifications

We go the extra mile to know everything we can.

Gaining this designation takes time and effort; the company principle, project managers and field superintendents must be individually certified. Pinnacle is one of only 27 masonry contractors to achieve this certification.

We are the only North Carolina-based masonry contracting firm to qualify for this national recognition.

Community

We live, we work, we play. And we like to give back.

Pinnacle Masonry has completed in-kind projects for several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, Hospice of Wake County (now Transitions Life Care) and Miracle League of the Triangle. Danks is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Miracle League of the Triangle. We have also donated materials and advice for Eagle Scout projects.
